Fun Fact: Before Disney got a hold of The Little Mermaid, it was a fairy-tale written by a Danish author in 1837. Long story short, the prince marries another woman and the young mermaid is heartbroken. So, at the break of dawn she throws herself off a cliff and dissolves into sea foam. While my description isn't exactly a Disney ending, the full plot is much... darker.
I don't know about other browsers, but there's a way to zoom in on Firefox. Ctrl plus the mouse's scroll wheel, under view, or right clicking on the window and bringing up customize, there's buttons you can add.
Sorry, know this is a slightly older comment but I like being helpful. :3
Haha I had a4 page card board version of it. When I got older it really freaked me out. In the little card board version she had to stab the prince to return. Her sisters had gotten a dagger from the sea witch but the little mermaid overcome just jumped into the ocean. In the other that I read she did turn to sea foam but reawoke as a mermaid because she has passed on into heaven. And it was all unbeknownst to the prince but he loved her as a friend and felt close to her. He never meant to hurt her and that's the worst part!! (ToT)
Very true. Did you ever Reade Read the original red riding Hood poem? Super dark. Last time I read it I was 10 so I can't remember if it was Brothers Grimm or not. I'd like to see a Disney take on red riding Hood though.... Hoodwinked doesn't count to me. It was good, but it doesn't count..... And a lot of princesses aren't even necessarily princesses so I really am surprised. Tim Burton is so cool. He would do marvelously with the original stories!!
You should watch Into The Woods then. Not the new one coming out but the old one that was a play/musical. I remember in the Cinderella scene the ugly step-sisters cut off their toes to fit in the slipper. At some point the prince took off the slipper and the actor poured out the fake blood. And then there's the anatomically correct Wolf.
